Big Little Lions
Big Little Lions turn helpless apprehensions into hopeless optimism with their latest album Alive and Well — a collection of songs that manage to capture this moment in time in a way only a songwriter can.
The pairing of two individually successful songwriters — Helen Austin and Paul Otten, Big Little Lions have continuously been recognized for their writing. Including 1st place in the International Songwriting Competition, Song of the Year in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition and Ensemble of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Award. Alive and Well is their natural progression and comes at a time when the role of the songwriter seems as important as ever.
With Austin based on Vancouver Island, BC and Otten based in Cincinnati, OH the duo proves that borders do not divide us and that art can bring us together.
Lunar Bloom is an all female vocal folk trio comprised of Kelly McNamee, Jocelyn Regina and Brittany Rae Robinson. Their songs are written collaboratively, with each voice weaving seamlessly in and out of harmony.
The three “Blooms” met nearly ten years ago at Sheridan College whilst studying in the prestigious Music-Theatre Program. While at school they collaborated on one another's songs, and began officially writing as a trio in the past year. Each a songwriter in their own respect, they bring different skills and perspective to every piece, creating something entirely new. Pulling inspiration from other female artists their sound has the quirkiness of Regina Spektor, the sweet innocence of Dala and the witchy appeal of Florence and the Machine. Their songs have dynamic range, often times with sparse acoustic accompaniment, to give focus to the intricate three part harmonies that blend deliciously and leave you wanting more.
Jessica Pearson and the East Wind
Jessica Pearson is a Canadian born storyteller with a voice like melting honey on a summers eve. Accompanied by the melodic bowing of Pat Bigelow on the Stand Up Bass and the sweet fiddling of Maddy O’Regan, they bring to life tales of the past and express the beauty and heartbreak of the world today. Fresh off their second international tour of Ireland, Jessica Pearson and the East Wind are working hard on a new album to be released in 2019.
Their debut EP 'Grave and Garden Songs' released in 2017 perfectly blends folk, roots and East Coast bluegrass. From a cappella tunes sung in the middle of the audience to recollections of growing up in Canada, Jessica Pearson and the East Wind will take you on a journey with their dynamic live shows and entertaining story telling.
