Hey. Hey you there.
Yes, you. Do you like poetry?
I don't know that's why I asked.
OH, YES I DO.
Then you should come to the Carleton Art Collective's third ever poetry slam: CAC Slam 3 at the Art House Cafe.
BUT WHAT IS A «POETRY SLAM»?
A crowd gathers. Competitors read/perform their poetry to the crowd. The crowd rates the poems they like the best, and the best poet wins a FABULOUS PRIZE! There will also be an open mic section of the night where anyone can come up and sing a song, do stand-up, read a poem, whatever you wanna do.
BUT WHAT IS THE PRIZE?
There will be a cash prize of $50 for winner!
BUT HOW MANY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WOULD SOMEONE RIGHTFULLY PAY TO ATTEND THIS MONUMENTOUS EVENT?
The event is pay what you can! We're practically GIVING this prize away! In fact, we're LITERALLY giving this prize away and it's not a sustainable business model. Half the donations we receive get added to the winners prize pool which honestly doesn't help the business plan but we can't resist upping stakes.
BUT YEARS OF RELYING ON ALCOHOL FOR MY ENJOYMENT OF SOCIAL SITUATIONS HAS RENDERED ME UNABLE TO APPRECIATE ANYTHING SOBER
Lucky you, The Art House Cafe will have WINE and OTHER ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES to quench your desperate need to fit in.
BUT WHAT ARE THE RULES FOR PERFORMERS?!
Can you stop yelling at me please
SORRY I'M JUST VERY EXCITED
Rules for performers are:
-Bring two poems to read (there will be two rounds)
-Try to keep them each under five minutes (we won't stop you after that but we might get bored)
-They don't need to be memorized (but it looks good when it is)
-Don't be afraid to compete, even if you've never been to a poetry slam before. The more competitors the better and we will support and love you.
C'mon out, invite your pals, and message us if you've got any questions.
