We are excited to announce being a part of a music evening with 6 bands and musicians. All will be performing for two great purposes.
Recently our friend Alex Yugin, the owner of Avant-Garde Bar in downtown Ottawa was harassed for being a Russian-born Canadian. ( http://cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/ottawa-russia-harassment-bar-1.4710210
Through this act of ignorance, we in the Ottawa music community decided to come together and counter the negativity of those actions with overwhelming positivity. We wanted to show a man who's supported us so much over the years that Ottawa is here to support him as well.
To that effect, we'd like to invite you to his wonderful establishment on Friday, July 13th for a night of local music. All proceeds will be donated to the Wabano Centre For Aboriginal Health. Please come and celebrate a great cause with us, and show your support for a pillar in Ottawa's music scene.
So, we will be playing a show at Avant-Garde with 6 other musicians and all donations will go towards The Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health in Ottawa. A great cause and we are the Paragon of the Cause, so it is only fitting.
LETS MAKE A DEAL
— Share this around and hopefully we can get a good crowd up to both support a local business from bullying and support the Wabano Health Center.
The full line-up is below
Thomas Aguinaga (Drums/Percussions, Harmonica), Sam Gendron (Keyboard) and Marc-Antoine Moisan (Guitar, Vocals) are an Indie Folk band from Aylmer, QC. Across the river from the no-nonsense, straight-laced, won't-crack-a-smile-at-a-dirty-joke Capital of Canada
Goodnight Boy: https://goodnightboy.bandcamp.com/
Goodnight Boy are a Canadian Lofi psy-folk duo. Combining the crunch of distorted guitars and shimmering ukelele with powerful harmonies and thoroughly woven storytelling, they deliver an intense dose of something you're not likely to find anywhere else.
Paragon Cause: https://paragoncause.bandcamp.com/
Paragon Cause is a songwriting, production and musical duo based out of Canada’s Capital, Ottawa. Dutch Orange and Cape Breton Green combine to bring their love of Hip-hop, jazz piano, 80's synthesizers and 50's guitars to create music that is mysterious yet familiar. Flowing vocals with dense harmony mix with dark modal guitar playing.
Kyle Ivan: https://kyleivan.com/
Kyle Ivan is a refreshing new face to the singer-songwriter scene in Ottawa, Canada. Often compared to such talents as Shawn Mendes, Passenger, and Bruno Mars, Kyle’s lyrics range from elation to heartbreak, entwined in pop-infused melodies. He is no stranger to the stage playing over 100 shows every year, previously sharing bills with artists like Dylan Menzie, Craig Cardiff, and The Strumbellas. Whether it’s a dead silent room listening to his story while sitting on the floor, or someone from the crowd pouring a beer down his throat after an improvised verse, he delivers.
Chloe Dances in Twilight: https://chloedancesintwilight.bandcamp.com/
Chloe Dances In Twilight is a Gothic alternative rock singer songwriter from somewhere outside Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Self described as loosely being a mix of Type O Negative with early Mark Lanegan and Mazzy Star, doused in Queens of the Stone Age-esque riff and melodic sensibility, Chloe Dances In Twilight is raw, melancholic riff rock bathed in Gothic imagery.
Matt Vagrant: https://mattjkfrancis.bandcamp.com/releases
Matt Vagrant, front-man for Weird With Cats, solo artist, and one-half of the duo Mistaken For Brothers, is one of the more prolific songwriters in Ottawa today. With 4 EPs released within the last 3 years between all 3 projects, Matt has been writing original music for over a decade. With a voice echoing traces of Neil Young and Thom Yorke, and a unique lyrical style that places reality and fantasy within close proximity, Matt's music invokes a sense of travelling and adventure mixed with dark themes from his own perspective. His narratives effortlessly invoke feelings of loss and renewal, campfire stories that he injects with his own wry humour, a by-product of having lived or else conceived of such experiences.
